Technical Support - Part Time

SecureMac is seeking a technical support professional to interact with the users of our software products.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Respond to miscellaneous email inquiries about our organization and software using integrated Help Desk software
  • Research and troubleshoot issues involving SecureMac software that may be in any area of computer troubleshooting, performing software tests or collaborating with our staff as necessary
  • Work with our staff of software engineers to simplify and improve software functionality and user interface design
  • Solicit and write success stories from satisfied users
  • Contribute to our periodic email distribution
  • Assist in testing and debugging new software versions

This position is a long-term part-time role, not a contract position. Candidates need to be able to devote approximately 15 hours a week during normal business hours to SecureMac. We are searching for a candidate who has demonstrated experience in a technical support role, has an intrinsic passion for Macs, and preferably resides in the Las Vegas area so that he or she can attend monthly team meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Native English speaker with strong spoken and written communication skills
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience doing technical support for computer software, hardware, or other technical products
  • A passion for Macintosh security and software support
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must have excellent writing skills
  • Basic Mac OS and Internet skills a plus
  • Well-equipped home office with high-speed Internet connection

 

Interface Designer - Contract

SecureMac is seeking an interface designer for our software, including their award winning anti-spyware application. Candidates for this job
preferably have experience creating interfaces for OS X applications, or at the very least a strong background in interface design. As a UI Designer, you will work within the Product Development department to design innovative, industry-leading software products. You will collaborate with the SecureMac product design team to generate detailed user interface and functionality design.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • As UI Designer you will be capturing usability requirements
  • Consulting and advising product team on usability issues
  • Creating information flows, look-and-feels and visual designs
  • Developing prototypes and mockups.
  • Conducting or participating in product usability tests
  • Generating and updating style guides and functional specifications

Experience:

  • Human Factors, Industrial Design, Graphic Design or other relevant experience
  • 2+ years UI design experience
  • Ability to think laterally and be innovative
  • Strong visual design sense and excellent problem solving skills
  • In-depth knowledge of user interface design principles, guidelines, and platform standards
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and to contribute to a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team
  • Expertise in Photoshop and Illustrator (experience with vector art a requirement)
  • Strong background/understanding of Apple's Human Interface Guidelines desired
  • Excellent verbal and oral communications skills
  • Experience in usability testing and evaluation.
  • Understanding of the software development process

Icon Designer - Contract

SecureMac is seeking a graphic artist who specializes in Mac OS X-style Icon design. The candidate will need to create the icons for the SecureMac application suite and also provide high-resolution print-ready versions for publication.

Experience:

  • Degree in Graphic Design, Interface Design, or equivalent experience
  • At least 2 years experience in professional icon design
  • At least 1 year professional consulting experience
  • Must have designed a minimum of 50 icons
  • Have created icon visual design solutions for Graphical User Interfaces in a software development environment
  • Have designed icon visual languages for desktop, web or small screen devices
  • Experience creating cross-medium scalable icon designs for the desktop and print publication

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Portfolio displaying your talent, versatility, and technical skill (online portfolio preferred)
  • Ability to create individual icons as well as icon visual languages for software products and/or web sites
  • Ability to create icons in a highly illustrative design style, i.e. - Mac OS X, Microsoft Vista
  • Comprehensive understanding of graphical user interface icon-standards for OS X (know the Apple HIG)
  • Ability to establish effective icon-use metaphors
  • Ability to communicate with strength interpersonally, in writing, and orally
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
  • Impeccable in attention to detail
  • Expert user of Photoshop, Illustrator and have working knowledge of tools for converting icon formats
